The content of this research on the problems of waste management in Nigeria’s urban cities embodies useful information concerning the current situation of waste control and suggested solutions. The purposes of the study were to conduct an investigation on the defective attitudinal disposition of the citizens, the conspicuous and open dumping sites and employment of modern technology as it connected to efficient waste management in Nigeria. The research was descriptive in nature whereby a representative sample was drawn from the population of the study. This utilized simple random sampling technique. Questionnaire, personal interview, books and the internet formed part of the primary and secondary sources through which data was collected.

Discoveries made show that the main problem to waste management is the defective attitudinal disposition of most Anambrarians to waste disposal caused by the poor concern of most urban populace to good waste control. Revealed also is the need for more improved technology in ensuring better waste control while the dumping sites should be improved on.

Recommendations made include converting wastes to wealth, environmental inspections, punishing illegal dumping of wastes and constructive public enlightenment of every individual. There should also be the encouragement of the use of production methods favourable to the right source reduction by manufacturing companies and households.
